Terms of Use
Effective date: 23 July 2026
These Terms of Use apply to Campus Command, an independent mobile application (available for iOS and Android), with a companion smartwatch app on supported platforms, created by Matthew Notley.
By using Campus Command, you agree to these Terms of Use.
Purpose Of The App
Campus Command is designed to help authorised users manage configured audio decoder zones and paging receivers from a supported phone or tablet. Features may include monitoring device status, adjusting volume, muting and unmuting zones, sending live announcements, and playing sound files the user adds or records as tones, to configured RTP and SIP destinations. Where a companion smartwatch app is provided, announcements can also be sent from the watch, which relays audio through the paired phone.
User Responsibility
You are responsible for:
- Ensuring you are authorised to access and control the configured audio devices and networks
- Entering correct device, network, API, password, and announcement destination details
- Testing configuration before relying on the app in a live environment
- Not connecting Campus Command to any audible system, speaker, audio system, or associated equipment that serves a life-safety, emergency alerting, medical, or evacuation purpose — and using the app safely and appropriately in all other environments
- Ensuring you hold the rights or permissions needed to use and play any sound files you add or record as tones, including any consent required to record a person's voice
- Not using tones as, or as part of, any emergency, evacuation, lockdown, or life-safety signal
- Protecting exported configuration files and passwords
Campus Command acts only on the configuration entered by the user.
No Guarantee Of Availability
Campus Command depends on local network connectivity, device availability, device firmware, user configuration, operating-system permissions, and compatible audio equipment.
The app may not function if:
- A device is offline or unreachable
- Network access is unavailable or blocked
- Microphone or local network permission is denied
- Incorrect IP addresses, API keys, usernames, passwords, or RTP destinations are entered
- A device or firmware version is incompatible
- Operating-system, network, or device security settings prevent communication
- The phone or tablet running the app experiences a hardware fault, power loss, or becomes unresponsive
- A companion smartwatch app is used and the paired phone is unreachable or the phone app is not running, since watch announcements are relayed through the phone
Campus Command must not be used with, or connected to, any audible system, speaker, audio system, or associated equipment that serves a life-safety, emergency alerting, medical, or evacuation purpose, where any app failure, crash, unintended action, or adverse outcome — including but not limited to an unintended volume change, mute, or announcement — could cause injury, death, or any adverse medical or safety effect. This includes but is not limited to emergency alert systems, evacuation systems, medical facility paging, and life-safety broadcast systems.
Announcements
The announcement feature transmits live microphone audio to destinations configured by the user. You are responsible for ensuring announcements are lawful, appropriate, authorised, and sent only to intended recipients.
Campus Command does not record or store announcement audio.
Configuration And Security
Campus Command stores configuration locally on the device. Some sensitive values may be stored using device security mechanisms or encrypted when exported.
You are responsible for keeping your device, configuration files, passwords, PINs, and network credentials secure.

Acceptable Use
You must not use Campus Command:
- To access devices or networks without permission
- To interfere with systems you are not authorised to control
- To transmit unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, or inappropriate announcements
- In a way that breaches applicable laws, policies, or organisational rules
- In connection with any life-safety, emergency alerting, medical, evacuation, or critical broadcast system — including any audible system, speaker, audio system, or associated equipment — where app failure, a crash, or an unintended action could cause injury, death, or any adverse effect on the safety or medical wellbeing of any person
Limitation Of Liability
Campus Command is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Campus Command is not designed or certified as an emergency, evacuation, lockdown, life-safety, or critical communications system. Campus Command must not be used in any context where app failure, a crash, or an unintended change to any audible system, speaker, audio system, or associated equipment could result in injury, death, or any adverse effect on the safety or medical wellbeing of any person. Where Campus Command is used alongside other communications systems, users remain solely responsible for maintaining appropriate backup systems and procedures independent of this app.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Matthew Notley is not liable for loss, damage, financial loss, business interruption, missed announcements, incorrect announcements, device malfunction, network failure, configuration error, data loss, personal injury, death, or other consequences arising from use of, inability to use, or reliance on the app.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
